Timeless Matera: A Tale Carved in Stone

View of the Sassi (Matera)

Imagine stepping into a world frozen in time, where ancient cave dwellings cling to rugged cliffs, and labyrinthine streets whisper stories of a bygone era. During my time living and working in Bari, Italy, I embarked on an impromptu weekend adventure and stumbled upon a hidden gem straight out of a wanderlust fairy tale that utterly captivated me.

Nestled on the right bank of the Gravina River amidst rugged cliffs, Matera emerged before me, effortlessly emanating a rich tapestry of history, culture, and undeniable charm. This intriguing ancient city is located in the region of Basilicata, standing as a testament to human resilience and ingenuity. Known as “la Città Sotterranea” (the Underground City), Matera boasts a history that dates back to the Palaeolithic Era, making it one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited settlements. Carved into the limestone cliffs of the Murgia plateau, Matera’s unique architecture showcases a seamless blend of primitive cave dwellings and rock-cut churches, creating an awe-inspiring tapestry of human endeavor.

The Magic of Algarve: Exploring the Coastal Gems on Wheels

Praia de Dona Ana, Lagos

Have you ever dreamed of embarking on a journey where the allure of the powerful Atlantic Ocean meets the freedom of the open road? Imagine yourself cruising along a stunning coastline with the wind in your hair, sand under your wandering feet, and endless possibilities ahead.

After so many solo trips, I was incredibly excited to finally have an opportunity to travel in company. They came to visit me in Huelva (Spain), where I spent some time living and working as an expat. We rented a car, packed our bags, and set out on an incredible road trip along the Algarve region in southern Portugal. It’s one of the most famous areas of this country, and it’s not difficult to understand why. With its breathtaking vistas, hidden coves, and vibrant coastal towns, Algarve is a region of sublime beauty, an ideal destination for intrepid travelers looking to combine a beach holiday with an active, adventurous trip.

A Love Letter to Seville

Royal Alcazar of Seville

Sevilla in springtime is a charming lady. She combines an old soul of a wise, cunning woman with a young, lively spirit of a blushing girl. Green leaves and blooming flowers flow around her rosy cheeks, bouncing off her shoulders as she dances passionately to the sounds of traditional flamenco. Her Orange Blossom perfume overpowers your senses even before you embrace her and tuck your nose into the inviting, fragrant hollow between her neck and her elegant collarbone. You stroll around her streets and gardens, completely enchanted with the delicious aroma of her juicy skin.
